Dinner Highlights - 2004
Senator Sam Brownback
In 1996, Senator Sam Brownback was elected to the U.S. Senate and has earned a reputation for expertise and genuine concern in a wide range of issue areas. He currently serves on the Appropriations, Judiciary and Joint Economic Committees, where he is the Ranking Member on the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Subcommittee as well as the subcommittee responsible for the Constitution. Senator Brownback also co-chairs the Senate Cancer Coalition and the Human Rights Caucus, chairs the Senate Values Action Team and is a founding member of the Senate Fiscal Watch Team.
While speaking at the 2004 Religious Liberty Dinner, Senator Brownback said that those denied religious freedom “deserve our efforts” to help assure those rights, quoting Hebrews 13:3 which instructs us to “remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.”
